      <image:caption>Although cognitive understanding is a part of the therapeutic process, to interrupt entrenched patterns of being, we must address the feelings in the body. We have all learned many coping strategies to avoid uncomfortable or painful feelings. With attuned support, we can learn to tolerate and even befriend difficult feelings like sadness, anxiety, anger, or despair and allow them to move through our bodies naturally. I will encourage practicing new strategies or tools in the session including movement, role-playing, mindfulness, use of metaphor, and other creative practices. I also believe humor and play go a long way to ease our suffering and bring us back into connection.</image:caption>
